July Newsletter

Happy July Friends!

Action items:

If you’re in or around Port Angeles, come out to the Port Angeles Food Bank on Wednesday June 10th, or to the Park behind Swains any Saturday, to help out with mutual aid and volunteer efforts! Stay tuned for Port Townsend opportunities, and remember you can always check the calendar on the side-bar of this page (or below it if you’re on mobile), or the calendar page on this website, for a full list of chapter events

We continue to support two campaigns for the August 4th primary election – Jefferson County Prop 1 (parks and rec levy) and Nemo’s bid for LD24 state rep – and several more for future elections. We always need more people to join our election team for canvassing

We continue to need phone-bankers who can make calls to members for certain actions. We have scripts, we just need people to make the calls

We are actively writing a member handbook and a new member onboarding policy, revising the chapter platform, and doing a few other pieces of writing, and need help with those items

Lastly we are looking for additional activities and events we can host or participate in, if you have any ideas for events or know of any good opportunities for us to attend something please reach out and let us know!

July General Meeting

Our July General Membership meeting will be held on Thursday, July 23rd, 6:30-8:30PM at the Chimacum grange – or online at https://meet.jit.si/NorOlyDSAGeneralMeetings

We will be discussing local issues, reviewing vote recommendations from the executive committee, doing an overview of our support of Jefferson Prop 1 and the LD24 house race, discussing our state-level efforts with the SIOC, the No Hate campaign, and the Washington Health Trust, discussing new member onboarding, looking for ways to more smoothly connect members with chapter work that needs doing, and further discussing our chapter platform.

We hope to see you there!

June convention recap

We successfully elected members for all positions, however the secretary has had to withdraw due to capacity issues. This means that the secretary position is currently vacant. If any member is interested in serving in that position, please let chapter leadership know ASAP.

The new executive committee is:
Cochairs: Nathan O, Nemo C
Secretary: Vacant
Membership Coordinator: Gwendolyn L (inc.)
Treasurer: Matthew M (inc.)

The two non-executive elected officers are:
SIOC rep: Nemo C (inc.)
Harassment and Grievance Officer: Diana G

Additionally we successfully passed a 2026-27 goals and priorities document, passed a fiscal policy, and continued our participation in the SIOC for the next legislative session. The chapter platform was continued to the July meeting pending further review and edits

Connection Options

We’d like to remind folks that we do the majority of chapter discussion outside of meetings on Signal. We have a public signal open to anyone that requests access, and a private signal that is only open to members in good standing. If you want to be more involved, the signal is the easiest way to connect with your fellow members. If you’re interested in joining the signal, send us an email at norolydsa@gmail.com and I’ll provide you with the join link. Don’t worry if you’re unfamiliar with signal – we can help you get it set up.
